- Sedentary lifestyle
- Sleeping position

- Dehydration
- An unhealthy (acid forming) diet
I believe that most imbalances, muscular tension, stiffness, back pain, neck pain, shoulder problems, knee problems, headaches etc. have their origin in the middle of the body, i.e. lower back, waist and abdomen. This is the center of the body and the center of gravity.
Most people suffer from stress to some degree and this makes the large powerful muscles in this area very hard, tense and stiff. They have lost their ability to relax and are constantly tense to various degrees. Because they are so tense and in such a central part of the body, they have an affect on the whole body.
Unfortunately the medical profession never looks at this and keeps prescribing pain killers, which will never solve the problem. Medicine seems to look at the body from the outside and as a problem that needs to be solved by the doctor when only the patient can solve the problem themselves from the inside. Back pain and muscular tension is not a disease that needs to be treated. It is an imbalance that the patient needs to work with him/herself.
So what can I do?
Look at the list above and see if there is any area you can improve.
- Stress (can you create more time for relaxation?)
- The inability to relax the muscles properly (do you need to learn relaxation techniques and/or meditation?
- Bad posture/movement habits (more awareness of how you sit, stand, walk, move?)
- Your job (sitting still in front of a computer for example) (can you change sitting position?)
- Sedentary lifestyle (do you need to incorporate more exercise and movement?)
- Sleeping position (is your bed/mattress suitable?)
- Accident or trauma (have you been through a good rehabilitation programme?)
- Dehydration (are you drinking enough water/eating a high water content diet?)
- An unhealthy (acid forming) diet (are you eating an abundance of fresh, raw fruit and vegetables which are alkaline forming?)
And of course use The Shakti Mat daily!
20-30 minutes on the Shakti Mat may considerably ease Back Pain and Muscular Tension
